You raise some great points on prototyping that resonate well with me. I just posted on a related topic that deals with doing requirements and Ux design/prototyping in Agile environments. It's at: http://uxstudio.wordpress.com/2009/05/04/agile-user-experience-design/

Quicktime is actually the best format to view video on the web because of it's integration with video editing software. But it is impractical right now because of the file formats. Most devices and pcs have window media player "builit in". The reason Flash is starting to take over because it is not browsers dependent and it doesn't need all that coding like wmv.

Die-Hard Mac fans will arguable say that Windows always copies off MacOSs. And die-hard Windows fans will say that Microsoft is innovative. However, in reality Microsoft still has 80% of the market share. Sad to say is it shrinking slowly and slowly. Maybe 25 years from now, Apple will have 79% of the market share and Microsoft will only have 21%. By that time Apple will be 50 years old. Hey a new company with a better OS will release their personal computer and then there will be three competitors.

Bethany, nice job in using a story to explain your product.

This technique works really well, in helping others understand your concept. It's a very user centered technique.

i agree with possibly making a survey or conducting another interview, i think this would be a great way to see which of these ideas has the best feedback, i think if we get time tomorrow we can decide on the best ideas the group came up with and crank out another list of questions. see you all tomorrow

This seems by far the most user intuitive. I feel like you definitely don't need to make it memorable with this layout, because it would be so easy to use every time I needed it.

My only suggestion...what if we could make multiple different schedules perhaps? I always wondered how I could manipulate my schedule to be the most beneficial, but it always seems like a pain to try. Could we save different schedules and pick one we liked the most?

So, if I understand this correctly, your hierarchy tree expands as you surf through the different stuff? I like this idea a lot, because it makes you not need a "back button" but lets you go back to where you need to.

Also, I like the idea of not having to select 'term' and 'institution' every time, but is there another way to view past class schedules any other way? Or would I ever really need to I guess...

This is definitely a solid idea. It will add a lot of convenience for every student to find course each particular dept without having to retype them.

We could also maybe implement a feature to only list courses the student is eligible for to shrink the list to fit each student's needs.

@ mjritter
This section is just to list courses they’re eligible for and to give the student the times and instructors for that semester. It's meant to be a convenience so the student won't have to find them. It also mentions the A&H, NS, etc in the degree progress reports already available in the Student Center. This feature will utilize that feature.
